Earliest Known Ancestors: has nine children baptised to him at Stoke Golding from 1681 to 1698. No mother is named in these baptism entries but in 1717 there is a burial of "Shewsanh, wife of Charls Ball". Charles himself was buried a few days later. Descent is via Charles' fifth child, William, (bapt 1691, wife Ann) to Charles Ball who married (bapt 1723, Burbage, Leicestershire, father Benjamin) in 1740 at Burbage, then to James Ball (bapt. 1747, Hinckley St. Mary, m. 1771, Hinckley St. Mary, Leics). Their daughter Lydia married John Bray in 1814 at Earl Shilton. See Bray Pedigree for more.

General Information
James Ball is variously recorded as James, Jas. or Jos. in the IGI transcripts of his children's baptisms. The PRs themselves are ambiguous between Jos. & Jas., but this is believed to be the same family.
