Earliest Known Langham Ancestor: and Alice Smith married at Peatling Magna, Leicestershire in 1748. They are the parents of Sarah Langham (bapt. 1749 Willoughby Waterless, Leics.) who married Thomas Sanderson at Willoughby Waterless in 1775. Descent is via their daughter Mary Sanderson who married John Jones at Hinckley in 1808, to Elizabeth Jones who married William Bray at Stoke Golding in 1841. See Bray Pedigree for more.
General Information All the information on the Langham and Smith branch prior to the marriage of Thomas Sanderson and Sarah Langham is based on secondary sources and has yet to be checked back in the original church records. I have checked William and Alice's marriage in the transcripts for Peatling Magna and there is no additional information. I have made a start on the Willoughby Waterless PRs, from 1766 back to 1713. This has confirmed the baptisms of William and Alice's children, and also revealed another Langham / Smith marriage: Thomas Langham m. Jane Smith, 1734. However nothing found on William or Alice's origins.
Next Steps 1. Extend Willloughby Waterless search forwards from 1766.
