Tuesday morning saw us heading down the Sognefjord, turning right into the Naerofjord, to the small town of Gudvangen. We arrived at 7am and dropped off those passengers who were going to take the overland trip to our next destination, Flåm.
Meanwhile, as the ship set sail..
...the rest of us settled back to enjoy the scenery we had slept through on the way in.
The few roads along the edge of the fjord frequently go through tunnels
Dramatic waterfalls carry the snow melt to the fjord below, but even in the June sunshine, up high, much of it stays put.
On this leg of the journey, most of our aerial escorts were Common (or Mew) gulls.
