At first, I couldn't get the spoilers to work well without a rather large gap in front. Eventually I realised that the pivot point was set too low, as shown in the first photo. Once the pivot tube was raised to be tight under the sheet surround, things went a lot better.
As you can see, I used 1/16 balsa for the spoiler surround, rather than the 0.4mm ply specified. This made it a bit easier to get the various surfaces to blend in well. The spoiler blade itself will need final sanding after the aperture has been covered.
Once the spoiler surrounds were in place, the top diagonal spar could be fitted. Having got both wings to this stage, I plugged all four servos into the receiver and set the transmitter up just so I could see something working.
Then, after a photo call in the garden, the wings were put aside, the workshop cleaned up and the fuselage sheet of the plan rolled out . . .
